UKSpending is a platform that aggregates and analyses spending data from across the UK public sector. We process hundreds of different CSV files published by various UK Government departments, local councils and other public bodies, combining them into a comprehensive, searchable database.
Our system automatically processes these disparate data sources, normalising and standardising the information to make it easily searchable and comparable. This involves processing various file formats, mapping different column headers to standard fields and identifying relationships between different datasets.
By bringing together this wealth of public sector financial data, we aim to improve transparency and enable better understanding of how public money is spent across the United Kingdom.
The transaction data displayed on this site is derived from UK Government and local authority datasets published under the Open Government Licence version 3.
